Bonnie White spent most of her life on her family’s farm in upstate New York. When she wasn't riding horses, she was sketching them. After graduating from college, White worked full time at the barn and part time as a compositor at several weekly newspapers. In 1987 she began working full time as a compositor at a daily Pittsfield, Massachusetts newspaper. Her artwork was put on hold for more than 20 years. In 2000, her parents closed the farm and White ended her equestrian career and her job at the newspaper. White entered several art shows and sold some of her paintings. A licensing agency contacted White in October of 2006 and she signed with them that month, selling jigsaw puzzles, calendars, and greeting cards worldwide.
