Dan Clowes is a graphic novelist, academy-award nominated screenwriter, and cover artist for the New Yorker. Dan was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1961. He attended the Pratt Institute in New York, graduating with a BFA degree in 1984. His first professional work appeared in Crack Magazine in 1985 and saw the debut of his first comic book series, which ran for seven issues. In 1989 he created a comic book series called Eightball, from which all his major comics appeared. Clowes moved to full color with his last two issues of Eightball that shifted in both visual and storytelling techniques. After Eightball, he created the graphic novel, Wilson, and a comic for the New York Times Magazine titled Mister Wonderful.
