The Deliciously Devilish Blog of Puzzling News From Staveland

When the North Wind Blows!

It’s ALMOST April and still snowing in Vermont. Last Sunday morning I spotted a Robin in the yard (a sure sign of spring right?) Then this morning I woke up to another blanket of snow. It’s time to head to the tropics! Here we come…………..Martha and I are off on our annual spring vacation to St. John.

Meanwhile, back in Vermont……………… This photo was sent in by die-hard Stave puzzle fans Mr. & Mrs. S. of Colchester, Vt. with this comment. “A week or so ago we experienced a 20 hour power outage here in Colchester, Vermont. Enclosed is an illustration of how inconvenience can be turned into something special.”

Fancy Corner Treatments

I spotted these fantastic corner treatments while passing through the shop the other day. I was so taken with them, I just had to show them off. Most of the Traditional puzzle images we show in our online catalog contain straight edges. Here’s a fair warning- we do intend to surprise you with unique and intricate edge details, unless you specifically tell us to keep the straight edges. Heh, heh, heh.

Stave Gets Famous!

The March-April issue of Departures magazine has a feature article about Stave. It came out last week and the phones and web site have been very busy. This magazine goes to all platinum cardholders of American Express, a million of them… WOW!

Also, last week we got a call from our daughter-in-law in Milwaukee saying she had spotted a Stave puzzle box in a celebrity’s living room photo… page 468. So we trotted down to our local newsstand to buy the March issue of InStyle magazine. Hey, what fun to see the photo! This puzzle was a gift.

Blackberry Farm – Stave Puzzle Party 2008

Here’s a little taste of what you missed by not joining Jennifer and Carol at the Blackberry Farm Puzzle weekend in February. In addition to Rebus challenges, Demolition Derby (with puzzle pieces) and plenty of time to work loads of Stave puzzles, the grand finale involved a Scavenger hunt in which team members careened around the property, racing to find clues to the location of the hidden treasure. These events are the perfect way to get to know other puzzle fanatics. We’d love to see you there next year!
