Stave Puzzles at Luxury Inns and ResortsI've found one of the best ways to get puzzlers hooked on Stave puzzles is to let them “test drive” one, and what better place than luxury hotels and inns. We have learned over the years that “small is beautiful” when it comes to Stave puzzling. An intimate luxurious setting best matches the quality experience of our wooden puzzles. Relaxed guests are often surprised at how much fun they have together over the puzzle table. In addition, in smaller venues we can connect with the hotel staff and they’ll watch over the puzzles with loving care. We have been very fortunate to win the affections of such fine establishments as Twin Farms (Barnard, Vermont), The Point (Saranac Lake, New York), Blackberry Farm (Walland, Tennessee), and the Wickaninnish Inn (Tofino, Vancouver Island). See below. Steve Richardson, Chief Tormentor...for 35 Years!
The Point The Point is a vibrant and exclusive house party, an elegant hideaway, the essence of rustic splendor, luxury and whimsy amid Adirondack Mountain wilderness. Built in the tradition of a Great Adirondack Camp, The Point Resort marries opulent authenticity with epicurean amenities and a secluded, relaxing wilderness. Lavishly expressed and painstakingly constructed on the original site of William Avery Rockefeller's Camp Wonundra, The Point continues that tradition of the Great Adirondack Camp era; with the Elegance and opulence of today. Blackberry Farm In 1940, Mrs. Florida Lasier of Chicago snagged her silk stockings on a wild blackberry bramble while exploring the idyllic Smoky Mountain foothills, and Blackberry Farm was born. Thirty-six years later, the Beall family invested their hearts and souls in the same romantic site that became their family home and lifelong passion. Today, one of America's most celebrated intimate luxury hotels beckons discerning guests who aspire to escape modern-day frenzy and slip into a Blackberry state of mind. Situated on a pastoral 4,200-acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry Farm will show you the many reasons why the 2004 Zagat Survey rated it as the #1 Small Hotel in America.

Pitcher Inn The Pitcher Inn (Warren, Vermont) was recreated after a fire in 1993 burnt the original 1800s structure to the ground. It was intentionally recreated by a nostalgia mirroring Vermont’s beauty and simplicity. Hence the Inn’s nine rooms and two suites are each an adventure in the state’s history. In addition, now a member of Relais & Chateaux, the Inn’s philosophy emphasizes the 5 Cs: calm, cuisine, character, charm, and courtesy. The Pitcher Inn’s eleven rooms are patterned to reflect the individual designers’ interpretation of a particular Vermont theme (Mallard, Trout, Calvin Coolidge...). From the whimsical to the classical, each room is a spectacular display of talent and taste lavishly manifested in unique motifs.

Lake Placid Lodge A majestic hotel, built by hand in the Arts and Crafts tradition, is perfectly set along the shore of Lake Placid in New York's Adirondack Mountains. There are thirty guest rooms at Lake Placid Lodge: five in the Main Lodge, seventeen cabins on the shore of the lake, six suites in the Lakeside Building, and two cottages, Pine and Birch, overlooking the lake, just steps from the Main Lodge. The feeling of the guest rooms and cabins is private, warm and comfortable, tucked beneath the high swaying trees — a camp of one’s own. The woods and water enfold the Lodge; the sun warms its wide stone porches. Each room has a fireplace at its heart and wilderness visible through its diamond paned windows. Above all, there is comfort and welcome, wherever you go.
